Grandparents Day

Grand Parents Day

Best day ever! Each year, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, is Grandparents Day- the best ticket in town! The kids put on a great show and our special relatives have a wonderful time celebrating with us!

Author Day

One of the best events at Norwood School. Authors come throughout the school year for all the grade levels to discuss their books and writing process. Both students and staff love this wonderful experience.

Halloween Parade

Get your costumes on and get out to march in our annual Halloween Parade! One of the best loved days of the year- the kids change into princesses, super heros, and goblins for an afternoon of parading and parties!

Field Day

Go Gold! Go Blue! What team will win this year? Each June, the students show their school spirit by competing in outdoor fun filled games and activities- a great day for all!

Author Day

Who doesn't love Pinkerton? Award winning author Steven Kellogg came to our school to discuss his books and show us how his illustrations come to life. He actually had a dog just like Pinkerton! Watch this You Tube clip to see more.

Welcome

October 2011

There is a definite chill in the air- fall is here and October is a great month for Norwood PTO!

We are starting the month with Respect Week. There are wonderful assemblies planned including “Slam-Dunk”. Former Globetrotter, Derek “The Whizz” Murphy tells stories about making good choices and setting goals. Important lessons for everyone!

After School Enrichment classes begin the first week of October. There are always great classes with fun activities planned: chess, tie dye, or book club! Take your pick!

As always, two super fall events that everyone enjoys are coming up this month: Walk-A-Thon and Scholastic’s Book Fair. Check our online calendar for dates and times.

The Norwood Fast and Flat 5K is generously donating all of their proceeds to the Norwood PTO! Get out there and RUN! BE FAST!… DON’T BE LAST! Who is going to beat Mr. Gatens? THE RACE IS ON!!

BOO!! Halloween is quickly approaching! We ask that you are conscious about the costumes your children wear to school during the parade and parties. Check your teacher’s webpage for party information.

Lastly, to end the month on the same respectful note as we began, we are organizing a UNICEF drive. Each student in grades K-4 will be receiving a UNICEF Trick or Treat box to carry with them as they go around the neighborhood. As they collect their candy and goodies, perhaps they can collect for less fortunate children around the world. If each student in the lower grades brings in just $1, we can collectively donate $250! Let’s help make a difference.

Looking forward to seeing you at our October meeting on Wednesday, October 12th at 10am in the lunchroom.

PTO President
